El premio fue establecido por el Instituto Neukom de Ciencias Computacionales en Dartmouth College. Los ganadores serán anunciados en el verano y recibirán $ 5,000. La lista final fue determinada por Tarek El-Ariss, Jessica Flack Peter Orner, Dan Rockmore y Eric Schaller. Los ganadores serán juzgados por el escritor de ficción especulativa Sam J. Miller.
